TAMPA, FL (August 16, 2011) – Ad 2 Tampa Bay, the unified voice of Tampa Bay’s emerging advertising professionals, is pleased to announce that “Starting Right, Now” has been named its Public Service client for the 2011-2012 year. Starting Right, Now is a Tampa Bay based non profit organization dedicated to ending the cycle of homelessness for the younger generation through continued education and an active mentor relationship, as well as ending homelessness for the family as a whole.
Each year, Ad 2 Tampa Bay selects a local charity as their public service client. Ad 2 Tampa Bay members work as a team to plan, create and implement a full service advertising campaign based on the goals and mission of the organization. Ad 2 Tampa has chosen Starting Right, Now to help raise community awareness and recruit new mentors to help local families and youth re-start their lives on the right track.
“Most people in the Tampa Bay community probably aren’t aware that more than 9,500 families registered as homeless this year in Hillsborough County. The majority of which have school age children, and that is just one county in all of Tampa Bay,” said Kris Solberg, Ad 2 Tampa Bay’s Public Service Account Director. “Homeless children are at risk of severe health, development and self-esteem issues. Mentors recruited by Starting Right, Now turn around the lives of these children, and there’s power in numbers. The goal of this year’s campaign is to decrease the homeless rate among Tampa Bay families with children by raising awareness of the prevalence of youth homelessness in our own backyard and recruiting new mentors in order to drive down the number of homeless families in Tampa Bay.”
